We thank the tourism industry for this fun little-known term, shoulder season. To bring us comfort in shouldering months, spring and fall, we turn to For Bitter For Worse Smoky 56 for a perfect smoky apple non-alcoholic cocktail.
Created by wife and husband team Shelley and Jeff Elkovich in Portland, OR, this is their ode to smoky whiskey and includes things like Lapsang Souchong tea (the source of the smoky flavor), dried figs, maple syrup, vanilla and orange peel. You’ll love this if you like peated scotch and smoky flavors.
Combine it with apple cider and voilà: a delicious alcohol-free cocktail for any night of the week.
- 2 oz (1/4 cup) For Bitter For Worse Smoky 56
- 2 oz (1/4 cup) of Apple Cider (we like a good organic one)
Add both ingredients to a rocks glass filled with ice and garnish with an apple round.
Variation: Serve warm in a heat proof mug.
